Comedian Joel Creasey had the crowd the international

The comedian took to the stage at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in Sydney to present an award, but first spoke about his lifelong quest for personal fame.

And he revealed that he’s suffered something of a setback lately.

“There’s a lot of worthy people in this room who are doing great work … my whole career, all I’ve wanted is to be famous,” Creasey said.

“So hardcore in fact that I was a contestant on the first season of I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here. If you don’t know that show, it’s where they find 12 celebrities who just happen to have six weeks available.

“All I’ve ever wanted in life is to be a question on a quiz show and the other day I was a question on Andrew O’Keefe’s show, The Chase. My friend called me up and said, ‘Hey, you were a question on The Chase last night.

In hindsight, Creasey said he should’ve left things there and been happy with having made a popular quiz contest. But he didn’t.

Instead, Creasey — who was presenting the gong for International Man of Style at the 12th annual GQ Men of the Year Awards presented by Audi — decided to track down the footage to see what happened.

“This woman was doing quite well answering questions and then Andrew O’Keefe said, ‘Who was the host of Eurovision 2017 alongside radio legend Myf Warhurst?’ The answer is me.

“The lady answering the question goes, ‘Hmm.’ Her whole team were like, ‘Hmm’. Not even The Governess knew.”

As he continued, the audience was in stitches, as has been the case in previous years at the GQ gala, where his impromptu routines have become a highlight.

Finally Andrew goes, ‘I’ll need an answer,’ and the lady goes, ‘Hmm …. Dave Hughes?’ Andrew goes, ‘No, the answer is Joel Creasey,’ and the lady goes, ‘Oh I would never have got that!’”

Upset with the lack of recognition, Creasey decided to track the contestant down on Twitter and sent her a message.

“I sent her a tweet and it said, ‘Hey, Im Joel Creasey. I’m the answer of that question you got wrong.’ It was like she was waiting for me, she responded within 30 seconds.
