Delaware Congresswoman Lisa Blunt
Rochester wants to make the First State a sanctuary state, according to her
Republican opponent Lee Murphy who opposed her positions on illegal immigration
and said "this woman does not represent the views of the residents of this
state."
Murphy, a Bellefonte man widely
known regionally for his feature role in Netflix's House of Cards, said he
decided to run after he met with Delaware Republican Party Chairman Mike Harrington
who told him no one was interested in challenging incumbent U.S. Rep. Blunt
Rochester.
When he realized that, Murphy said
he had no choice but to run. He told Harrington "she does not represent
the views of most Delawareans."
This woman does not represent the
views of the residents of this state," Murphy said. "Our current U.S.
Representative aligns herself with people on the left: Nancy Pelosi, Maxine
Waters. And among those are sanctuary cities, a topic that she has brought up
numerous times. She want's to make Delaware a sanctuary state, and quite
frankly I cannot accept that."
Murphy said the wall needs to be
built, and that now is the time to get strong on comprehensive immigration
reform that reflects the values and interests of hardworking Delawareans.
