Reporting from Food World News, a recent study revealed that a quarter of a cup of legumes or nuts enough to make you full and also reduce levels of bad cholesterol.
Nearly 1,000 men and women managed to reduce their weight around 350 grams after adding one serving of nuts to their diets.
Other studies conducted by Indiana's Purdue University and Bastyr University, Washington. They recruited volunteers to consume calories to 30 percent lower than normal levels. They then divided the volunteers into three groups. The first group ate three cups of beans per week, the second group consumed two glasses and a third eating nuts minimum.
After being tested for six weeks, all of these groups lost weight, but those who eat lots of nuts, experienced more weight loss. Those who ate the most nuts managed to lose weight by 3.9 kilograms, and those who ate nuts at least only lose about 900 grams in weight.
"Although many people already know the benefits of nuts for health, only 13 per cent of Canadians who eat beans every day and most do not eat a full portion," said Dr. Russell de Souza, a researcher at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, Canada.
